Pouring pints as high stools overcome floods

Readtime: 0 min

I first posted this picture on Twitter (as it was called then) during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, captioning it as a real “wet” pub, as pictured by Kilmacthomas photographer, the late John Kiely, in early November, 1988.

It showed how locals in Peter Kenny’s, Clonea-Power (now Clancy’s Bar) still managed a pint despite the premises being flooded when the River Clodagh burst its banks after torrential rainfall.

From left: Peter Kenny — owner, Kevin Cahill, Pat Dalton, Jim Power, Frank Dempsey, Tom Brazil, Liam Fitzpatrick, and John L. Sullivan.
