An A. H. Poole photograph of a wedding party from 28 August 1946, five days before the Emergency Powers Act expired.
In addition to the details reported in the Waterford News, for many years the bride’s widowed mother Bridget ran a grocery and bakery business in Ballyduff with her daughter Eileen. The other bridesmaid was the well-known Joan Harney, Dunhill (profiled in The Munster Express in 1959, right).
Sadly, Eily, who was prominent in the Ballyduff Social Club during the fifties and a sister of Thomas, predeceased her mother by a few years. Bridget subsequently moved to Portarlington to live with Kitty and passed away there in 1969.
