Foundry fifteen dominated Factory hurling

Reigning All-Ireland champions, the Noel Crowley-captained side beat Suir Electric by 2-12 to 1-12 to claim their third consecutive victory in the competition, helped by a 100-yard point by Tony Browne in the closing stages.
The champions’ line-up and scorers read as follows: J. Dunphy; J. Cullinane, P.J. O’Connor, B. Flannery; P. Connors, F. Hartley, D. Keane, J. Caulfield (0-1), T. Browne (0-2), D. Fennelly (1-1), D. O’Neill (0-3), M. Murphy, D. Mullally (0-2), N. Crowley (1-1), D. Byrne (0-2).
The Suir Electric team was led by Kilkenny centre-back Pat O’Neill, while Portlaw’s Noel O’Sullivan was the referee.
Suir Engineering dethroned their arch rivals in another closely fought final at Carrigeen the following year.
